The certificate status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.
Position Title: Middle School Assistant Boys Basketball Coach Location: Newcastle Middle School District: Newcastle Public Schools, Newcastle, OK
Job Description: Newcastle Public Schools is seeking a qualified, dedicated, and enthusiastic individual to serve as the Middle School Assistant Girls Basketball Coach. The successful candidate will assist the head coach in all aspects of the basketball program, including practice planning, skill development, supervision, and game-day responsibilities. This position supports the development of student-athletes both on and off the court, promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic success.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred
Previous coaching and/or playing experience in basketball is preferred
Must hold or be willing to obtain required coaching certification through the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA)
Must pass a background check as required by state law
Must demonstrate strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) or willingness to obtain one is preferred but not required
Responsibilities:
Assist the head coach with organizing and conducting practices and games
Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and travel
Promote a positive culture that encourages student growth, discipline, and teamwork
Support academic monitoring and student eligibility in collaboration with school staff
Adhere to all district, conference, and OSSAA rules and regulations
Employment Terms:
Seasonal, stipend-based position
