Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Multi-Color Offset Press Operator to set up, operate, and maintain 6-8 color offset printing presses to produce high-quality commercial and packaging materials. This role requires advanced knowledge of color management, specialty coatings, cold foil applications, press proof approval, and preventative maintenance aligned with OEM specifications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and committed to quality, efficiency, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate 6-8 color sheetfed or web offset presses
Review job tickets and verify paper stock, ink, plates, coatings, cold foil materials, and production specifications
Perform plate hanging, ink mixing, advanced color matching, and press adjustments
Manage press proofs and conduct internal quality checks prior to production runs
Coordinate and obtain color approvals and customer sign-offs on press proofs
Maintain tight color tolerances and precise registration throughout production
Set up and run specialty coatings including aqueous, UV, matte, gloss, and other inline finishes
Operate and maintain cold foil units, ensuring proper adhesion, registration, and finish quality
Monitor press performance and make real-time adjustments to maintain efficiency and minimize waste
Inspect printed sheets for color accuracy, coating quality, foil adhesion, and overall print standards
Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) to meet or exceed OEM specifications
Maintain detailed maintenance records and ensure equipment operates within manufacturer tolerances
Troubleshoot mechanical, coating, foil, and print-quality issues to minimize downtime
Maintain accurate production logs and documentation
Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience operating multi-color offset presses
Proven experience running 6-8 color presses from manufacturers such as:
Komori Corporation
Heidelberg Druckmaschinen AG
Koenig & Bauer (KBA)
Hands-on experience running specialty coatings (aqueous, UV, matte/gloss finishes)
Experience operating cold foil applications inline with offset presses
Demonstrated ability to manage press proofs and secure color sign-offs
Strong understanding of color theory, ink systems, and print quality control
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform preventative maintenance to OEM standards
Ability to read and interpret job specifications and production schedules
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred)
Preferred Skills
Experience in high-end commercial print or folding carton packaging
Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
Work Environment
Fast-paced manufacturing/print production facility
Exposure to noise, ink, solvents, coatings, and paper dust
Shift flexibility may be required
