Industrial Electro‑Mechanical Maintenance Technician I

A day in this role

When you clock in, you’ll review work orders, gather your tools, and get right to work keeping production equipment running safely and smoothly. You’ll move from preventive maintenance on key machinery to on-the-spot troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues. One hour you might be aligning a drive system; the next, you could be testing a control circuit with a meter or fabricating a bracket from stainless steel to get a line back up.

What you’ll do

• Prioritize and model safe work practices in every task.
• Repair and perform preventive maintenance on machinery and mechanical equipment in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical/electronic wiring, equipment, apparatus, machines, and fixtures using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctioning systems, components, and apparatus with test equipment and hand tools to resolve issues quickly.
• Connect wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, and related components.
• Calculate, lay out/draw, balance, and align equipment for optimal performance.
• Execute rigging activities and safety-related functions; perform assorted maintenance and electrical tasks as needed.
• Fabricate or utilize mechanical parts (fittings, valves, etc.) from cold rolled steel, stainless, steel plate, structural members, and other metals.
• Maintain electrical equipment in compliance with applicable country, state, and federal codes.
• Support established safety and quality programs by following all processes and rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Hands-on troubleshooting skills; able to assist with repairs/diagnostics on advanced processing equipment, CNC machinery, material handling systems, press brakes, lifting devices, and sawing equipment.
• Solid mechanical aptitude; a self-starter who also follows direction well.
• Required knowledge: laser alignment and vibration monitoring.
• Understanding of predictive and preventive maintenance practices and pipefitting.
• Competent with oxyacetylene torch work and welding; welding certification required.
• Safe, proficient use of shop tools (hand and power).
• Physically able to work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs while installing, maintaining, or repairing electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
• Certified/able to safely operate a forklift and high lift.
• Competent in programming Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
• Knowledgeable in troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Proficient in testing electrical systems and verifying circuit continuity using ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure system compatibility and safety.
• Experience with mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics; welding certification required.
