The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a BSA Officer role in the New Lenox, IL area. The position is responsible for assisting in the origination and underwriting of commercial loan, franchise loan and owner-occupied commercial real estate applications and responsible for managing client relationships. 

The opportunity has a generous salary of up to $95K and a benefits package.  (This is not a remote position).

BSA Officer responsibilities include:

  • Automated transaction monitoring and review of alerts using Verafin system, as well as some manual monitoring of higher risk accounts.
  • Timely filing of CTRs and SARs.
  • Writing and updating the institution’s BSA/AML/OFAC risk assessments.
  • Writing and updating the institution’s BSA/AML policies and procedures, and implementing and ensuring that all policies and procedures are in place and are being followed.
  • Quarterly reporting of BSA/AML statistics to the Board of Directors.
  • Key contact for auditors and examiners during exams.
  • Chair BSA Committee, with monthly reporting on BSA/AML/OFAC/CIP activity.
  • Supplying requested documents to auditors and regulatory examiners, and participating in interviews during BSA/AML exams and audits.
  • Identifying gaps in existing high risk client documentation and working directly with clients to ensure the institution’s CDD and EDD requirements are satisfied.
  • Working closely with Senior Management to determine if certain high risk prospective clients are appropriate for the institution, and working closely with these prospects as they go through the onboarding process.
  • Co-managing ongoing high risk client relationships.
  • Attending periodic onsite visits of high risk customers.
  • Periodic creation and presentation of BSA/AML training to employees.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the institution’s BSA/AML/OFAC requirements in general, and also requirements pertaining to certain high risk industries.
  • Manage, direct and develop staff.

  • Strong verbal and written skills 
  • Detail orientated 
  • Skilled at financial analysis  
  • Knowledge of commercial lending, owner-occupied commercial real estate lending, loan policy and regulatory requirements  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint 
  • Ability to interact with clients in a professional, tactful and diplomatic manner  
  • Ability to collaborate with loan officers, loan operations, and deposit operations to accomplish goals  
  • Ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines 
  • College degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent related experience 
  • Completion of a credit training program, preferably through a bank credit department 
  • Minimum of 7 – 10 years’ experience in commercial lending, preferably with franchise finance and construction lending experience.
